RAISED GARDEN BEDS

There has been a big increase in the number of people building raised garden beds and growing their own fresh vegetables. Eastern white  cedar is perfect for raised garden beds – it lasts for many years, and has no added poisons like pressure treated wood. Second grade (20% off) or even third grade (50% off) rough lumber is the usual material for raised garden beds. Depending on the size of the desired raised garden bed, the usual sizes of boards are 1 x 6, 1 x 8, 2 x 6 and 2 x 8, with rough short pieces of #2 grade 4 x 4 for support.
